December leading up to Christmas was a busy time for St James' Church. The building looked at its best with a thorough clean and festive decorations for the Christingle, and carol services. The midnight service was well attended and enjoyed by all. 2017 saw Peter Hughes made priest in charge of Ravenfield, Braithwell, Hooton Roberts, and St Alban’s Wickersley. He also became Area Dean, installed officially in June this year by Bishop Peter Burrows of Doncaster, at St James' Church Ravenfield
Sarah Brighton and Kayleigh Ashurst became Worship for Today leaders and are now taking the family service. Coffee mornings resumed on the second Saturday of the month 10-12, and everyone was welcome. Weddings and baptisms have taken place throughout the year, though the number of weddings is down on the last two years.
