There are no plans for a Gala in the forseeable future as not enough volunteers could be found to organise such an event.

Ravenfield Gala 2016

The 2016 Gala was held on 10 June  and despite the boggy condition of the Jubilee Field was a great success. The day was saved by local farmers who not only donated many bales of straw to help dry out the field, but also helped with a massive tidying up operation on the day after the gala.

Dozens of stall holders and local charity groups pitched up to sell their wares and the day turned out sunny and dry. The parish council provided free entry and entertainments for the visitors. Among groups to entertain the crowds was a stunning display from Wickersley All-Stars, which featured songs from their next show Barnum which will be shown at the Civic theatre in November.

The church ladies had worked hard baking cakes and buns to ensure that everyone could have a cake and a cuppa in the big marquee.

A group of volunteers worked throughout the year to plan for this gala and on the day after the event, they spent five hours clearing the field of straw and make the field tidy and attractive again.
